Students' Association
The Lakhimpur Girls' College Students' Union (LGCSU) is the general
body of the students of our college. Its membership is compulsory for
every year regular student of the College. The office bearers are
elected annually. Except LGCSU, no other Students' Association / Unions
is organised by the College.
The Lakhimpur Girls' Students' Union was
established during the session 1975-77. Ms. Nurjahan Begum was the 1st
General Secretary. In the Students' Union the Principal is the President
, Vice Principal or the senior most teacher is appointed the Vice
President. The secretaries are elected by the students in the Students'
Union general election which is held every year. The present Students'
Union has nine section or clubs/societies for various Co-curricular
activities. The sections are Magazine and Literary, Social Service,
Debating and Symposium, Music & Culture, Festival, Students' Common
Room, Gymnasium, Outdoor Games and Indoor Games.
The Students' Union
has its own constitution. The executive committee of Students' Union
1978-79 constituted a committee for preparation / writing of the
constitution of the Students' Union. The committee is given below.

Due to the
Assam Movement all the colleges of Assam were closed for one year and as
such the constitution preparation could not be completed in scheduled
time. As the two student members were absent their degree final
Examination, the Executive Committee of the Students' Union 1981-82
nominated the then General Secretary and Asstt. General Secretary , Ms.
Bina Rajkhowa and Ms. Binu Hazarika as the student members of the
committee. The constitution was read and discussed by the committee on
31-10-81, 1-11-81 and 2-11-81 for 10 hrs and 45 minutes and necessary
revisions were made. The duly approved Students' Union constitution was
signed by the Principal Mr. Mohan Chandra Roy on 19-07-1982. So far no
Amendment of the constitution has been made. As some amendments are
needed , shortly steps will be taken in that direction.
