EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

Career Counseling:

        The career guidance cell of Lakhimpur Girls' College hangs the information regarding career development in the career. Notice Board and organizes talks, seminars and the like by inviting exparts from various places. Present Co-Coordinators of the cell are Mr. B.K. Saikia and Mr. Rajen Dutta.

Coaching Classes:

        Lakhimpur Girls' College encourages coaching classes for all career aspirants. The teachers of Science and Arts streams extend free coaching services for the Engineering , Medical and other competitive examinations for the benefit of our students. The coaching classes are taken up during the months of March and April after H.S. final examinations.

Tutorial Classes:

There shall be Tutorial Classes in each subject in both H.S. Arts & Science.

Sanskrit Study Centre:

Rastriya Sanskrit Sansthan , New Delhi is a Deemed University. We have a study centre as well as Spoken Sanskrit Course Centre at Lakhimpur Girls' College under the non-formal Sanskrit learning programme of Rastriya Sanskrit Sansthan . Mr. K.S. Khandayatray is the coordinator of Sanskrit Study Centre.

IGNOU:

The Guwahati Regional Office of Indira Gandhi National Open University has established the special study centre (for women) in Lakhimpur Girls' College with the following subjects for various certificates , Diploma & Bachelor Degree Programmes w.e.f.- July , 2001 having networking facilities.

Centre for Spoken English:

Department of English launches Spoken English classes from the session 2003-04. Interested students can take admission to the course at the time of admission into different classes.

Centre for Extension Education:

Activities for Extension Education have been conducted at different times.

NERDP (National Educational Research Development Programmes):

It has been introduced in the College w.e.f. 2003. Under this programme the following schemes will be introduced. (i) System Requirement Study , (ii) A customized Training Programme , (iii) Internet Connectivity & Satellite Service , (iv) Research Proposal (v) Field Study Programme (vi) Computerization and Automation (vii) Proposal for Audio Visual Processing unit (viii) Study Materials Books for Higher Studies (ix) Medical Transcription Services (x) Herb Gardens , medicinal plants & Meditation Centre (xi) Foreign full time Scholarship  for Higher Studies.

 

N.C.C.

The N.C.C. is an organization which provides a golden opportunity for cadets to develop leadership qualities, self confidence to be disciplined and devoted citizen to promote the cause of Nation and Nation Building.

The college has been providing scopes to undergo N.C.C. training since 1977. The present N.C.C. officer is Ms. Jonali Gogoi.

 

N.S.S.

Another important organisation is N.S.S. Since 1977, the students of our college have been rendering benevolent service to people around the whole district of Lakhimpur through this organisation. It unfolds the opportunities to the students to inculcate the spirit of fellow-feeling, service to the people for their socio-economic enlistments. Mrs. Swapna Chetia Gogoi, Head Department of Assamese is the present programme officer of N.S.S.

Guide

Guide is established in 2004 in our college. A number of students have been enrolled. Ms. Meera Das of Department of Hindi is the officer-in-charge of Guide of our College unit.

Social Work

Mrs. Swapna Chetia Gogoi, Head, Department of Assamese is the teacher-in-charge of social work. She monitors the social works of our college.

Community Development Programmes

Dr. Debajit Baruah of Department of Botany is the Teacher-in-charge of the Community Development Programmes. He monitors all community oriented social work and programmes.

Nature Club Activities

The Nature Club of Lakhimpur Girls' College has been working since were actively engaged in the plantation in College campus. At present Principal Dr. M. Pandit is the President of the club. The N.S.S. officer is the Vice President and all the teachers of the Department of Botany are the active members of the Club. The College Authority is planning to send proposal to the Ministry of Environment, Govt. of India for implementing the policies of the department in our College. All the students are welcome to join this club.
