                    General Distribution of Papers

The general distribution of papers and minimum marks for the B.A. Part-I, B.A. Part-II and B.A. Part-III shall be as follows. For General courses a student can choose Core-I & Core-II from Section (A) subjects. In case, he chooses one core subject from Section A, the other core can be chosen from Section (B) subjects.

Core

    The Candidates are required to offer four subjects in all:

  1. English

  2. MIL

  3. For the remaining two core subjects the students are free to choose any subject in their combinations barring the following combinations which are not regarded valid,

           

(a) El. Hindi / Anthro / H.Sc./Maths (b) El. Hindi / Geo / H.Sc. (c) Maths / His
(d) Phil / Com.Eng (e) Eco. / El. Hindi (f) Geo / Stat
(g) Anthro / Stat    

 

General Information

  1. A student offering English as Major subject is required to take another Core subject not involving practical to be termed as Core-II in lieu of the two papers of General English.

  2. A student offering Major in a subject is allowed to offer any vocational career oriented subjects as a parallel course subject for additional certificate  / diploma / advanced diploma degrees for career development.

  3. A student offering Major in Assamese is required to take two papers in the same subject termed as Additional Assamese as Core-II in lieu of MIL papers.

  4. In Major and General subjects involving practical, the distribution of marks for theory and practical papers are as shown in the syllabus of the subjects concerned.

  5. For students offering the subjects Mathematics , Statistics and Home Science , distribution of marks shall be governed by the Dibrugarh University B.Sc. Regulations , 2003.

  6. In case of student offering major in Mathematics , the total marks in Major is 1000.

  7. According to D.U. Examination Rules the Pass Marks for the B.A. Part-I, II & III Examinations shall be as follows

    (a) 30 % marks in General English / MIL / Alt. English and Major or Core subject involving no Practicals.
    (b) 30 % marks in theory paper and 40 % marks in practical of Major or Core subject involving practical.

        

  8. The minimum number of lectures to be delivered in a college in different subjects will be as follows: 

    (a) Per full Theory paper  - 90 (45 minutes duration)
    (b) Per full Practical paper - 40 ( 90 minutes duration)

                                                                                                                            

  9. General English is Compulsory for all except for those with English Major.

  10. MIL includes Assamese, Alternative English and Hindi in our College.

  11. A major student can also take  Elective Hindi as one of the Core Subjects.

  12. There are three University Examinations:

    Part - I at the end of 1st year , B.A.
    Part - II at the end of 2nd year , B.A.
    Part - III at the end of 3rd year , B.A.
  1. Besides above mentioned examinations , the students are to appear Unit Test , Terminal Examinations & Test Examinations which are conducted by the College itself according to the Academic Calendar and to participate in the departmental seminars.

 

Post Graduate Programme

    P.G. Teaching facility in Political Science of Dibrugarh University Course is available . 25 seats are available. In P.G. Centre  Distance Education , teaching in Pol. Science , Assamese and History are available.
